1.1.3Meaning ‘pertaining to the grandmother’
The word xñnije has been cautiously taken as an adjectival derivation of the lexeme xñna- ‘grandmother’, cf. Hajnal 1995a:158 n. 166, DLL:136, Neumann 2007a:126. Hajnal (ibid.) assumes that it modifies ñtada and he translates both words together as ‘(dt.) in den großmütterlichen Grabkammern’, likewise Ševoroškin apud Neumann 2007a:126. On the other hand, Laroche 1957-1958a:191 interprets it as the dative singular of the noun for ‘grandmother’. However, the ending -ije is reserved for personal names. Since the context is fragmentary, one could also suggest a dative singular of a personal name. However, since there is no motivation for the interpretation of a personal name, the assignment of an adjective in -i(je)- following the contextual analysis of Hajnal is prefered here.

1.1.4Stem
If the lexical assignment is correct, xñni(je)- is an adjective derived with the suffix of appurtenance -i(je)-: xñna- + -i(je)- (< *-i̯o- + i-mutation). The stem vowel has been deleted in the suffixation.
