(CTH 751, MS?)

The nominal or verbal status of the word aranta is hard to verify (pace Carruba 1970a:51). Its grammatical assignment should remain open, between 3pl. pret. ind. act. or part. nom./acc. sg. or pl. n.

1.1.4Meaning

Carruba 1970a:51 suggests tentatively that it belongs to a verb ar-, a cognate of Hitt. ār/ar-(ḫi) ‘to arrive’ (see Luw. /ar-(ti)/), and translates it accordingly. Although this is possible, this semantic assignment cannot be verified at the present and, therefore, no meaning is suggested for Pal. aranta here.
