1.1.4Meaning
The fragmentary context makes it difficult to elucidate the semantics of ammummali. It occurs as the first word in the second verse of a strophe. In the preceding strophe, this position is occupied by appuzzi- ‘fat, tallow’, whereas the following strophe has the word allišunanni ‘alli-fill’. Therefore, ammummali may refer to something pertaining to a feast, but venturing beyond that and without at least an etymological approach would be too speculative.

1.1.5Stem
The word can be analyzed as an adjective (or a noun) in -ali-, found also in Pal. kuliwali- (attribute of kuwani- ‘woman, queen’, the title of the goddess Kataḫzip/wuri). The derivational base *ammumma- could be a substantivized participle in -mma-.
