prllele/i-
‘pertaining to the feast (?)’1.1.1Transmission
This lexeme is attested in the inscription of the inscribed pillar of Xanthos, dated contextually to shortly after the ascension of Artaxerxes II in 405-404 BCE and stylistically to around 400 BCE (Borchhardt & Eichner 1997-1999a:19f.).

| dat./loc. sg. | prlleli | TL 44d.46 (Xanthos) |
The grammatical analysis as dat./loc. sg. is supported by the assumption that prlleli kedi=pe depends on the postposition n͂t[ẽ]nẽ.

1.1.3Meaning
From a contextual point of view, it is tempting to take it as a derivative of pirle/i- ‘feast (?)’ with the adjectival suffix -ele/i-. However, this remains unprovable until further evidence emerges. Neumann 1982a:153 instead suggests a derivative of prulija- ‘war trophies’ found in Lycian A, which is morphologically problematic, since the suffix -ija- should not disappear in the derivational process. The comparison with the town Aperlai and thus the treatment of prlleli as an ethnicon is not attractive (pace Neumann 2007a:283, Schürr 2005a:155 and Schürr 2018b:65). Shevoroshkin 2002a:230 translates prlleli with ‘tributary’, likewise assuming a derivative of pirle/i-, although his semantic assignment is a mere guess.

The formation prllele/i- is most likely an adjective in -ele/i- (= CLuw. -alla/i-) possibly derived from pirle/i-.
