1.1.3.1Phonological Interpretation
Even though this lexeme is a hapax legomenon, its phonological interpretation is nevertheless reasonably secure. This is due to its HLuw. cognate and derivational base /wasu/ ‘well’, which is in turn connected to CLuw. wāšu- ‘good, well’, a link first suggested by Hawkins 1969a:104.

1.1.4Meaning
The verb is intransitive and used in a short clause in TOPADA, §18 as part of a passage detailing the divine support the author believes himself to benefit from: wa/i-mi-tax tù-pa-sa6-ti wa/i5-sú-ha ‘I succeeded by? battle’ (cf. Hawkins & Morpurgo Davies 1979a:392 and Hawkins 2000a:453). Yakubovich 2002a:199 points to the use of the reflexive particle underlining this meaning.
[AH.B.]
1.1.5Stem
This verb is derived from the u-stem adjective /wasu-/ ‘good, well’. Thus was already suggested by Hawkins & Morpurgo Davies 1979a:392, although they regarded the forms attested for the verbs /wasu-/ and /wass-/ as belonging to a single paradigm. Despite only one attestation, it is quite likely that the formation belongs to the class of verbs in /-(a)u-(di)?/ (Sasseville 2021a:198f.), although the particulars of that class itself are not beyond doubt due to an overall scanty attestation (Sasseville 2021a:180-183, 190f.).
Outdated is the analysis by Hawkins 2000a:457, who considered the present form to belong to the verb /wass-(ti)/ ‘to be dear/pleasing’, which has a different stem formation; see under lemma. Likewise outdated are the analyses offered by Weitenberg 1984a:395.
[AH.B.]
For the derivational base, see HLuw. /wasu-/.
