The forms pitaad and pitad must be assigned to a lexeme different from the one of pitat (contra Gusmani 1964a:82). Their morphological relationship as two different denominative verbs derived from the same base is explained in Sasseville 2015a:287, 291.

1.1.3Meaning
Gusmani 1964a:82 explains rightly that pitat occurs in a context, in which some people establish their rights as owners over a property. Since the clause of pitat is negated, Gusmani comes to the conclusion that pitat must refer to a negative action. No meaning is given in Gérard 2005a:127. From a morphological perspective, pita-(t) is a denominative verb in -a-(t) derived from the base *pita-, which can be equated to Lyc. pijata- c. ‘that which is given, gift, delivery’(Sasseville 2015a:291). The verb pita- seems to be used intransitively, i.e. if the enclitic pronoun =as is nominative singular (and not accusative plural). If this is correct, the meaning of the clause should be approximately: ni=k=τ=as pitat ‘and he will not make a donation.’. On the other hand, if =as is accusative plural common gender, the verb would be approximately ‘and he will not give them away as gifts’. The semantics of “giving” are at any rate supported by the etymological perspective and appropriate for the context. Nevertheless, until the meaning of the context is further elucidated, the semantic assignment given here should be considered to be tentative.
