| nom./acc. sg. n. or 3sg. pres. act. (?) | tulod | LW 12.8 (Sardis) |
Gusmani 1964a:216 takes tulod as a verbal form, which is possible, although a neuter noun, which could be the direct object of wroλt cannot be excluded.
[D.S.]
1.1.3Meaning
The passage in which tulod is found is difficult to understand, although it seems to have something to do with a temenos (širmaλ ẽn). From an etymological perspective, it is tempting to connect Lyd. tul-o- with Hitt./Luw. tūl-iya- c. ‘assembly’ (see tūliya-). Nevertheless, as long as the semantics of the other lexemes in the sentence are obscure, the meaning of tulo- remains difficult to determine.
