1.1.4Meaning

The word ešḫinašš[i] appears to be a verbal form in the 2nd person singular. Other verbal forms of the same person occur within the same context, which supports the reading of the sign -š[i? as well as the assumption that the word ends in this way. The meaning of the verb can be deduced from the etymological perspective with the root išḫ- ‘to bind’ (Hitt. išḫāi-/-iya-(ḫi) ‘to bind’), which found also in Palaic; see derivational base. The fragmentary state of the context hinders however the verification of the posited semantics.

1.1.5Stem

The verb ešḫina-(i) can be best interpreted as a formation in -ina-(i) (or -na-(i)) derived from the verb išḫiya- ‘to bind’.

[D.S.]

For the base of the derivative see Pal. išḫiya-.
