išfolla-(d)
‘(unknown)’1.1.1Transmission
This word is found in an inscription dated to the 4th century BCE on paleographic grounds (Gusmani 1975b:12, 53).

Gusmani 1980a:59 finds it improbable that iš- in išfollad might be the preverb iš-, probably because roots do not begin with f- in Lydian. Nonetheless, the segmentation should not be excluded either, since the -f- in this cluster may result from a -w-, i.e. iš- + *wollad. In any case, more evidence is needed.

1.1.3Meaning
Gusmani 1975b:20 does not offer any translation, only a morphological comparison with Lyd. citollad. The verb is left untranslated by Dusinberre 2003a:234. If one takes profcν as the adverbial derivative of prwa- ‘year’ (see under Lyd. prwãν (porlλ)), išfollad would represent an action to be performed on a yearly basis to something that is referred to by the anaphoric pronoun =aν (acc. sg. c.). Due to the obscurity of the context, we will refrain from attempting any translation of the predicate.

1.1.4Stem
The verb išfollad is surely a denominative in -a-(d); although a neuter noun in -ad cannot be formally excluded, it would not fit into the syntax of the passage.
