1.1.3.1Phonological Interpretation
The phonology of this lemma was interpreted by Rieken 2003a:49, who suggests that an earlier */zraza-/ changed by metathesis to /zarza-/ (but cf. under Reconstruction of the lemma head). The participle suffix /-mma/i-/ is widely attested in HLuw. and CLuw.
[AH.B.]
1.1.4Meaning
Because of its status as a hapax, the word escaped interpretation for a long time. Only the re-evaluation of the context in connection with the relief depicting part of the royal family, led to a new interpretation (“the growing ruler” as an epithet to the name of the prince’s son) and provided it with an etymological connection (Rieken 2003a:47-49; Sleth 2004a:527).

1.1.5Stem
The root /zar-/ and the suffix /-zza-(i)/ < *-sk̑e/o- form the stem of this verb, and the attested word features the regular participial suffix /-mma/i-/.
[AH.B.]
For the lemma head, see HLuw. */zar-/, */zir-/.
