1.1.3.1Phonological Interpretation
The phonological interpretation of this lexeme hinges on whether or not AMPLECTI constitutes an alternative spelling for (LITUUS)á-za- /azza-/ ‘to love’ (see discussion under /azza-/). Provided that it does, then the interpretation as /azzanu(wa)-/ can be regarded as certain, as the syllabic spellings of /azza-/ provide a clear picture.
[AH.B.]
1.1.4Meaning
The semantic interpretation of this lexeme is based purely on its morphology because the context it occurs in is mostly unclear due to only two orthostats of the inscription being preserved, out of probably four original orthostats. In fact, this verb is the only word of its clause to have survived, i.e. nothing can be said about the subject of the sentence, or about an object or further elements such as a preverb, if any. The given meaning is hence to be taken as preliminary and liable to adjustment in the event of further attestations surfacing.

1.1.5Stem
Built on the verb /azza-/, this is a regular deverbal formation built with the causative suffix /-nu-/ found in several Anatolian languages.
[AH.B.]
For the base of the derivative see HLuw. /azza-/.
