The sole attestation of the form is provided by a small oracular fragment (NS).

| unknown | KUB 50.46 iii 8’ | (CTH 574, NS) |
Attestation according to Tognon 2005a:164 and HED N:122. Tognon seems to favor a verbal interpretation “e ubbidiente/proprio”, unless she had in mind a noun clause with a predicative participle. Likewise, Puhvel understands the sequence as the “Luwoid iterative of *waralla(i)- ‘be helpful’, antonym of niwaralla(i)-” (but see under Stem).

1.1.3Graphic Features
Checked against the photograph in the Mainzer Fotoarchiv. – Although the reading of final -a[n?(-) cannot be established with absolute certainty, it would fit the traces very well.
[E.R.]
1.1.4Meaning
Although the fragmentary context is not understood, the transparent word formation permits at least an approximation of the meaning: waralla/i- ‘one’s own’ → *warall(a)i-(di) ‘to be one’s own’ or *waralli-(ti) → warallišša-(i), imperfective of ‘to be one’s own’, which can also be read as ‘to be/behave proper/in a friendly manner’; cf. the range of possible meanings for
niwaralla-(ti) ‘to make/become improper/alienated’ (see Tognon 2005a:164, HED N:122).

1.1.5Stem
Although the ending of the form is lost, the suffix -šša-(i) in
wa-ra-al-li-eš-ša-a[n?(-) allows to pin down the stem class. For the derivational chain, see under Meaning.
[E.R.]
1.1.6Origin
Based on the use of the gloss wedge and the derivation from Luwian waralla/i-, the word’s Luwian origin is assured.
