1.1.3Meaning
The context, in which the word paritod is found, is fragmentary. No meaning can be offered; cf. Gusmani 1980a:40.
[D.S.]
1.1.4Stem
Gusmani 1975b:23 (and Gusmani 1980a:40) compares verbs in -t-o-(d), e.g. takto-(d), fa-cato-(d), f-arto-(d), and assigns parito- to this type of stem. The question whether parito- is a nominal or a verbal stem cannot be answered unequivocally, but a verbal stem is more probable based on Gusmani’s comparison.
[D.S.]
1.1.5Origin
Although it is tempting to compare the Lydian segment pari- with CLuw. parri-(ti) ‘to spread’, there is no way of verifying this hypothesis, based on the current data.
