1.1 Palaic
šalina-
‘(unknown)’1.1.1Transmission
This lexeme is found on two fragments, one (i.e. KBo 19.160) possibly containing a song, attributed here to the Palaic language (cf. Schuster 2002a:546f. n. 1119).

1.1.2Forms
| acc. sg. | ša-li-na-an | KBo 19.160 iii 4 | (CTH 754, NS) |
| ˹šal?-li?˺-i-na-a[n | KBo 19.160 iii 2 | (CTH 754, NS) | |
| [ša?-]li-na-a[n] | KBo 62.24, 5’ | (CTH 754, NS) |
Due to the fragmentary state of the context, the restoration suggested for KBo 62.24 should be considered provisional.

1.1.3Meaning
If the restoration in KBo 62.24 is correct, the word šalinan would occur in the second line of an incantation, in which the gods are addressed with the imperative ḫāšita[n] ‘Satiate yourselves!’. In KBo 19.160, it is the direct object of the verb nāyari ‘to turn (?)’ and occurs within the same context as ḫuruttiliyaš, which could designate a kind of stew. Although the meaning of šalinan is obscure, it occurs in each of the two contexts in relation to a meal. The root šal- is probably the same as that in Pal. šalizza- ‘?’.

1.1.4Stem
The agreement between šalinan and the enclitic pronoun =an (acc. sg. c.) in KBo 19.160 iii 4 tells us that šalina- is common gender.
