1.1.3Meaning
The word is attested as an attribute of GÍR ‘dagger’ and SAG.DU ‘head’ in inventory texts. Košak 1982a:37f. and Siegelová 1986a:400f. convincingly suggest that SAG.DU is an metonymical expression for the pommel of a dagger. Thus, the usage is parallel to that of kinuḫaimma/i-, obviously connected with kinuḫi(ya)-, and their meanings are probably very close or even identical.
[E.R.]
1.1.4Stem
Since kinuḫiš functions as an attribute to the preceding nouns (see also Siegelová 1986a:601) and shows agreement, it can therefore be safely classified as an adjective. A stem ending in the adjectival suffix -i(ya)- is the most straightforward assumption.

1.1.5Origin
The assumption of a Luwian origin for this lexeme is based on that of its cognate kinuḫaimma/i-.
