1.1.4Meaning
Carruba 1970a:56 suggests convincingly the meaning ‘to sprinkle with water’ by association with Hitt. ḫurna-/ḫurn-(mi) and ḫurniye/a-(mi) ‘to sprinkle’ (followed by Oettinger 1979a:560, Eichner 2010a:44). This interpretation is further supported by the verb’s asyndetic correlation with another verb, šapawinai ‘to wipe’. Outdated analysis in Kammenhuber 1959a:21.

1.1.5Stem
The verbal formation ḫuwarnina-(i) is derived from the non-attested verbal stem *ḫuwarna-, morphologically equivalent to Hitt. ḫurna-/ḫurn-(mi) ‘to sprinkle’.
