1.1.4Meaning
While it is tempting to connect zārizza- to the word family around zarā(i)- ‘to sway, wave (?)’ (see under Lemma; tentatively suggested by Sasseville 2021a:96), the isolated plene spelling calls for caution. Even the reading of w]a-ar-ša ‘water’ in KBo 29.28 obv. 5, which could support a meaning ‘wave’ vel sim., is not assured.

1.1.5Stem
The form zārizzan allows for a classification as a non-mutating stem with the -zza- suffix, probably derived from a base ending in -iya- (Yakubovich, pers. comm.), or with the denominal suffix -izza- from a base *zar- (Sasseville 2021a:96).
