1.1.4Meaning
Melchert 1993g:287 suggests that the word is a denominative verb based on the noun zariya- c. This is accepted by Sasseville 2021a:36, but he too refrains from any meaning assignment. If the semantic interpretation of zazzarā(i)- as ‘to sway, wave’ and zar(r)iya- c. as ‘(a moving waterbody)’ is correct, a denominative derivative of the latter should mean ‘to stream’ or ‘to welter, move in waves’.
