Arzawa Luwic *paḫḫ(a)-

Yakubovich 2010d:92 suggests that Anzapaḫḫaddu, the name of a general of Arzawa (KUB 14.4 i 7, 25, KBo 14.6, 15; Laroche 1966b:34 No. 93), means ‘Let (him) protect us’ (followed by Melchert 2013c:45). Accordingly, there would be a verbal stem *paḫḫ(a)- ‘to protect’ in the Arzawa Luwic language. This is formally possible, although currently there is no way to verify this.
