1.1.4Meaning
CLuw. ašḫa is attested twice as a direct object of a verb nūtu- of unknown meaning (see under Lemma nūtu-). Contra Otten 1953a:37 n. 53, Melchert 1993g:36 suggested that the word belongs to CLuw. āšḫar/n- ‘blood, blood-deed’. He did not comment on the unparalleled loss of final -r, but it is a strong enough reason to refrain from the identification. Hence, no semantic assignment is possible.

The (nom./)acc. pl. n. in -a is compatible with a neuter thematic noun or a substantivized mutated adjective.
