1.1.3Meaning
In the context of TL 57, it is said that the Mindis will make a transfer into the lower grave for 1 shekel, but in the upper one for tupm̃me shekels. From an Indo-European perspective, Savelsberg 1878a:156f. suggests based on a comparison between tupm̃me and mupm̃me that the elements tu- and mu- refer to numbers and assigns the meaning ‘double, twice’ (vel sim.) to the former (followed by Meriggi 1936b:266, DLL:73, Neumann 2007a:390f.). Therefore, the translation would be ‘for twice as many shekels = 2 shekels’. Since the phrase tupm̃me sixla is in the plural, the translation ‘double’ is not accurate, but the sense is the same in the end.

1.1.4Stem
Regarding the morphology of the word, Carruba 1974a:590 suggests that the sequence -pm̃me/i- goes back to a pre-form *tuweme/i- with syncope of the medial vowel and assimilation of *w > p (the letter
rendering in this case a voiced labial stop [b]). This is made plausible by the lack of the sequence *-wm̃m- in the Lycian corpus.

2. Reconstruction
2.1Reconstruction
Carruba 1974a:590 reconstructs for Lyc. tupm̃me/i- a formation in *-mo-, i.e. *du̯o-mo-, comparing Hitt. damāi- ‘other’ < Pre-Hitt. *du̯a-ma-i-. Since the Pre-Lycian initial sequence *du̯- becomes kb-, tupm̃me/i- must reflect a different syllabification, i.e. *duu̯-. For a similar situation in Luwian see CLuw. duyanalli-.
