Attestations following CLL:111 (not yet in Laroche 1959a; cf. also Neu 1983a:315; Starke 1990a:485; HED K:215) checked against the photographs of the Konkordanz. On the reading of ku-ra-˹at˺-ni in KBo 22.143 i 6 see s.v. Cuneiform Luwian †kuranna/i-. Melchert and Starke 1990a:605 quote also ku-ra-at[- in KBo 32.126, 2’, which does not exist based on the hand copy and the photo of the Konkordanz. Restorations follow Starke 1985b:225, 288 based on parallel passages.

1.1.3Meaning ‘cutting (?)’

This word is frequently translated as ‘cutting’ (Neu 1983a:315 [following a pers. comm. of Starke]; CLL:111; EDHIL:486; no meaning in Ünal 2016a:962), see also the similar ‘Zerkleinerung, Zerschneidung’ of Tischler 2008a:95, Tischler 2016a:178 (with question mark). This is supported by the morphological analysis of Starke 1990a:485, who suggests a -ttar/-ttn- derivative from kuwar-/kūr- ‘to cut, to break?’ or kūri-/kurai- ‘to cut into slices, pieces?’.

As already Starke 1990a:485 rightly pointed out, a more exact definition of the meaning is not possible since we are dealing with fragmentary contexts, except in the case of KBo 22.143, but it is not helpful either, as it may hint at an object at best. Accordingly, the assignment of the meaning is based exclusively on its assumed internal derivation and thus not assured.
