This lexeme is found in an inscription from Sardis dated to the 5th or 4th century BCE.

If it is a nominative singular, the word aspluwas would occur in apposition to the name of the goddess Artemis (thus Gusmani 1964a:66, followed by Payne & Wintjes 2016a:97. An alternative analysis views it as an accusative plural and thus the direct object of the verb, which is not preserved.

The context, in which the word aspluwas is found, is obscure and fragmentary. It appears to be a compound with as- as its first member (as in as-trko-) and pluwa- as second member. No meaning can be offered; cf. Gusmani 1964a:6.
