This word is attested only once and appears with a gloss marker in a NS manuscript of an unknown text type mentioning the mountain Murišta and a stone sanctuary (ḫekur-).

1.1.2Forms
| ? | KUB 54.60 obv. 4’ | (CTH 832, NS) |
The attestation follows CHD P:377; HEG L–P:649; cf. Ünal 2007a:552 and Ünal 2016a:422 (not included in Laroche 1959a, CLL, HED or EDHIL). The transliteration has been checked against the photo in the Mainzer Fotoarchiv. The form cannot be identified due to the fragmentary context, cf. under Meaning.
[A.B.]
1.1.3Meaning ‘(unknown)’
The form has not yet been translated and the dictionaries listing it do not provide any meaning, at all (cf. CHD P:377; HEG L–P:649; cf. Tischler 2008a:150; Tischler 2016a:283; Ünal 2007a:552; Ünal 2016a:422 and the list of Glossenkeilwörter by Zorman 2016a).
The context shows the following (the transliteration is based on the photo of the Mainzer Fotoarchiv, and additionally, the hand copy as well as the transliterations and restorations of CHD P:377 and HEG L–P:649 have been taken into account):
(3’)nu ⸢ḪUR⸣.SAGm[u-ri-iš-ta ...] (4’)
pu-un-da-an-nu-u[š(-) ...] (5’)[ḪUR.]SAGmu-ri-iš-ta [...] (6’)[... -]⸢an⸣-du ḫé-kur d[...] (7’)[... -z]a-an-te-eš
(3’)and the mountain M[urišta …] (4’)
pundannu[š- ...] (5’)[moun]tain Murišta […] (6’)[... th]ey shall […] the ḫekur [(of the?)] deity? […] (7’)[…] the [… z]antes(nom.pl.c.)
The Glossenkeilwort has probably something to do with a cult related to the ḫekur of the mountain Murišta, but the fragmentary context and the missing ending of the word do not allow to determine the form or the meaning any further; for possible options see under Origin.
[A.B.]
1.1.4Origin
The dictionaries listing the form do not usually give a stem-form (cf. CHD P:377, HEG L–P:649; Tischler 2008a:150; Tischler 2016a:283; not included in the lists of Luwianisms by Melchert 2005a or van den Hout 2007a), except Ünal 2007a:552 (cf. Ünal 2016a:422), who assumes a u-stem (hence a noun or adjective), but since the end of the word is damaged, this cannot be confirmed.
If the form
pu-un-da-an-nu-u[š(-) contains a -nu-suffix, it could be a verb derived from an adjective or a noun (cf. Hoffner & Melchert 2008a:178) *punda-. Such an adjective is yet unattested, but there is a Hittite noun pūnta- (with unknown meaning) that also appears together with the name of a mountain in another fragmentary passage in KBo 35.164 r. col. 6 (cf. HEG L–P:649 and CHD P:377 pūntaz).
The only other word with a perhaps related stem is the verb puntarriya- ‘to be intractable, stubborn’ (cf. CHD P:377; HEG L–P:649; HED P:119f.; EDHIL:681) and its adjectival derivative puntarriyalla/i-, which is attested in Luwian (cf. under the respective lemmata). But neither of these words fit in the context.
With regard to the context, the form pūntaz comes closest to the attestation in KUB 54.60 (although the first vowel shows plene spelling, which is in itself not a decisive feature), the form
pu-un-da-an-nu-u[š(-) is probably a related causative-verb. Concerning the ending of the form, one could also consider an additional derivation with the imperfective -ške-suffix, but due to the fragmentary form and context, no further analysis is possible.
