1.1.2Forms

nom.-acc. sg. n. zi-da-˹a-ḫi˺[-ša KUB 35.125, 3’ (CTH 766, NS)

Attestation following CLL:284 (cf. also Laroche 1959a:116; Starke 1990a:170 [but with false grammatical analysis]; HEG U-Z:770) checked against the photograph of the Konkordanz. Although most authors mark the ša sign as only partly damaged (Laroche 1959a:116; Starke 1985b:252, Starke 1990a:161, 170; HEG U-Z:770 – CLL:284 does not even mark any damages), it is in fact not visible on the photograph (so correctly Otten 1953c:33 and in his hand copy), thus it must be restored (as did already Otten 1953c:33), which could have been fully justified only by the final decipherment and full restoration of the sentence by Carruba 1982b:2 (which is generally accepted, see Starke 1985b:252, Starke 1990a:160f.; CLL:284).

1.1.3Meaning ‘virility, manhood’

There is a general consensus regarding the meaning of this word (Laroche 1959a:116; Carruba 1982b:2; CLL:284; Starke 1990a:160f., 170; Tischler 2008a:235, Tischler 2016a:459, HEG U-Z:770; only Ünal 2016a:977 books it without meaning) due to its clear derivation as an abstract noun from zita/i- ‘man’ (Starke 1990a:170 and CLL:284 [falsely claiming that Starke assumed an indirect derivation]), see s.v.
