1.1.2Forms

unknown /.../ VIR-tà-x-tá TELL TAYINAT 1, frag. 1 l.1 (Amuq)

1.1.3Graphic Features

The missing sign in the middle of -tà-x-ta cannot be recovered. Hawkins 2000a:367 suggests that the word -tà is complete reading /zida/ and that the missing sign and the following <tá> reflect particles of the clitic chain. This is possible, but considering the fragmentary state, it must be considered tentative.

[D.S.]

1.1.4Meaning

The logogram indicates that the lexeme -tà-x-tá refers to something pertaining to the man, thus perhaps male (Hawkins 2000a:366f.). Such an approximate meaning is supported by the following word -la-. However, based on the fragmentary state of the context, no precise meaning can be ascertained. For the family of words pertaining to /zid(i)-/ ´man´ see under HLuw. /zid(i)-/.
