1.1.1Transmission
The attestation of the alleged gloss wedge word
pabilili (thus read by, e.g., Hagenbuchner 1989a:58) occurs in a New Hittite letter fragment (KBo 18.54 obv. 16). The collation shows that the two small horizontal wedges are deleted by erasure and represent an unsuccessful beginning of the sign PA in pa-bi-li-<li>(apparently interpreted in this way in CHD P:101, HED P:99 and elsewhere). Therefore, the correct reading is (eras.)pa-bi-li-<li>.
