lappanzi(ya)-
1.1.1Transmission
The sole attestation of the word is found in a fragment of a vow.

1.1.2Forms
| nom. or acc. sg.(?) | KBo 13.72 rev. 7’ | (CTH 590, NS) |
The analysis of the form depends on the reading (see under Graphic Features).
[E.R.]
1.1.3Graphic Features
Checked against the photographs in the Mainzer Fotoarchiv. However, for the sequence after -i-, the photographs are very unclear. Also, the handcopy by Otten leaves room for doubt. Therefore, a dependable decision between the readings
la-ap-pa-an-zi-i-ḫi-ni (CHD L-N:41, s.v.
lappanziḫini, HEG L-N:34, HHw:92, Ünal 2007a:396, DCL:s.v.),
la-ap-pa-an-zi-i-tin-ni (de Roos 2007a:141), and
la-ap-pa-an-zi-i-in (Torri & Barsacchi 2018a:87) seems impossible without collation of the tablet. The reason for the choice of -i-in is the familiar structure of the ending, although it does not conform with the verb tiyazi very well.

1.1.4Meaning
Given the fragmentary context and the uncertainties of the reading, neither a contextual nor a derivational analysis of this isolated lexeme is possible.
[E.R.]
1.1.5Stem
In case the reading by Torri & Barsacchi 2018a:87 is correct, the plene spelling of the i-vowel in the word-final syllable points to a stem in -i(ya)-, i.e. nom./acc. sg. n. -iyan (with syncope) > -īn.
[E.R.]
1.1.6Origin
A form
la-ap-pa-an-zi-i-in, marked with gloss wedges and featuring the plene spelled ending in -Ci-i-in, most likely represents a borrowing from Luwian (assumed in DCL:s.v. in spite of the different reading), whereas a word that ends in -ḫi-ni has “Hurrian looks.”
