1.1.3Graphic Features
Checked against the photographs in the Mainzer Fotoarchiv. – The reading by Starke 1985b:200 is based on the handcopy by Otten in KBo 29. The photograph shows that the reading is very well possible, but contributes little to its confirmation. Still, trusting Otten’s experience, the reading -ḫ[i- is adopted here (different Yakubovich & Mouton 2023a:100: na-a-na-x[...]).

1.1.4Meaning
In spite of its weak attestation, the word is cited in CLL:154, HHw:110, EDHIL:601, HED N:107, DCL:s.v.. The assigned meaning, ‘brotherhood’, can be derived from the analysis of the stem formation: nān(i)- ‘brother’ plus abstract suffix -aḫi(t)-.
