1.1.2Forms
| 2sg. impv. act. | /izziyassa/ | i-zi-ia-sa | KARKAMIŠ A18a, l.2 (Karkamiš) |
Hawkins 2000a:194 recognises the form as a verb, but is uncertain of its morphological properties and suggests a 2sg. impv. only tentatively. His suggested alternative, viz. an emendation, is unnecessary, cf. the discussion of the stem below.

1.1.3.1Phonological Interpretation
The phonological interpretation of this lexeme is reasonably clear. It belongs to the word family around /izzi(ya)-(di)/ ‘to do, make’ and is formed with a well-known suffix, cf. the discussion of the stem below.
[AH.B.]
1.1.4Meaning
The meaning is suggested somewhat tentatively, based on its morphology and context of attestation (see Yakubovich 2017e and Yakubovich 2020a:468-473). Even though it doubtlessly belongs to the family around /izzi(ya)-(di)/ ‘to do, make’, its formation and meaning remained somewhat unclear for a long time (cf. Hawkins 2000a:194) and it did not garner further attention from scholars. However, with the continued elucidation of the word family,See Rieken 2007b, Kloekhorst 2019a, and Yakubovich 2020a. interpretation has become possible, albeit provisionally. The verb occurs only once in the very brief inscription KARKAMIŠ A18a, whose text consists of a mere two lines: EGO-mi Ipi?-sa-mi-tá-sa tara/i-wa/i-ni *a-wa/i-ti i-zi-ia-sa, approx. /ammu=mi Pisamittas tarrawannis a=wa=di izziyassa/, I (am) Pisamitta, the righteous (one). Be reverent to me!’ (cf. Hawkins 2000a:194 and Melchert 2019a:342). Only further data can show if the assigned meaning is appropriate or needs adjusting.
[AH.B.]
1.1.5Stem
The word is formed with the suffix /-ssa-(i)/, which is used to derive additional verbal stems from already existing verbs, in this case /izzi(ya)-(di)/ ‘to do, make’, likely a compound verb (see Yakubovich 2020a:475). The suffix is used with the endings from the ḫi-conjugation and forms iterative and imperfective stems, cf. Sasseville 2021a:488-490.
