Steinbauer 1999a:384 suggests that the Etruscan word tmia ‘temple’ is a loanword from an “in den anatolischen Sprachen bezeugten Verb tam- “bauen””. Oettinger 2010a:241 classifies this suggestion as “vielleicht” and “äußerst unsicher”, without arguments. Since the derivation is not explained, this etymology cannot be accepted.
