1.1.3Meaning

Brixhe & Özsait 2013a:248 (also Brixhe 2016a:98) suggest interpreting ουαρπλιο as a full word as well as a personal name related to Luw. warpalla/i- (in Hitt. Tr.) (followed by Adiego 2017a:14) translated here with ‘armed’. The overall interpretation is possible, though difficult to prove based on the current state of research. Also, its status as a personal name can be questioned. Furthermore, the morpheme -ιο- would have to be explained as an additional suffix such as one corresponding to CLuw. -i(ya)- (Lyc. -i(je)-) as in the derivational chain -all-i(ya)-.
