‘pertaining to the grandchild (?)’1.1.1Transmission
Reconstructed from the Carian PN Κασβωλλις attested in Halikarnassos, c. 475-450 (LGPN V.B:229; cf. also Zgusta 1964a:217 §545 and Blümel 1992a:15f.).

1.1.3Meaning ‘pertaining to the grandchild (?)’
Adiego 2007a:334, 374 suggested that Κασβωλλις is a derivative of the Carian name Ksbo, presumably meaning ‘grandchild’, see s.v. (Blümel 1992a:16 compared it with Χασβως, which was later identified as the Greek spelling of Ksbo, but this is problematic, see the discussion s.v. *ksbo). This is a formally fitting solution, since Greek spellings in -ωλλος reflect the Carian suffix -oλ (Adiego 2007a:258; the i-stem may reflect secondary i-mutation or a derivative with the appurtenance suffix -i-).
