1.1.4Meaning
As stated in CLL:217 (followed in HHw:170; no gloss in DLL:94 and HEG T:225), tarš(i)- denotes an object made of iron (taršiš an.bar). On account of the mention of iron nails and a hammer in the preceding context, one may surmise that it is another tool. The connection with Hitt. GIŠtarše- cautiously considered in HEG T:225 is not supported by the context, but remains possible.Fruitless is the attempt to connect tarš(i)- with Hitt. GIŠtarša- ‘sprout’ in DLL:94.

1.1.5Stem
The nom. sg. in -iš points to a stem with i-mutation, much less likely is a stem in -i(ya)-.
