1.1.4Meaning

The verb piddanna refers to an action done by the bull in the sky. From a comparative perspective, if we adduce as cognate Hitt. pittāi-/-i(ya)-(ḫi) ‘to run, flee’ EDHIL:655-658 has pattāi-/-i(ya)-(ḫi) with a different root vocalism., we obtain a suitable sense for the phrase, i.e. “Bull! Run on top of the sky!”.

[D.S.]

1.1.5Stem

The verbal form piddanna can be taken either as an imperfective formation with a suffix corresponding to Hitt. -anna-/-i(ya)-(ḫi), although this would be the first attestation of this suffix in Palaic, or as an infinitive formation comparable to the Hittite one in -anna (originally the locative singular of a verbal abstract noun in -ātar-/-n-). More evidence is needed.
