The attestation cited below under Forms comes from a cult inventory.

1.1.2Forms

part. dat./loc. sg. or Luw. 3pl. pres. act. (-)]uš(-)ša-ḫu-ia-an-ti CHDS 3.161, 8’ (CTH 530, NS)

For the morphological analysis, see Soysal & Yıldız Gülşen 2019a:202f.

1.1.3Graphic Features

Checked against the photographs in the Mainzer Fotoarchiv. – The reading ]-uš ša-ḫu-ia-an-ti at CHDS 3:161, 8’ as suggested by Soysal & Yıldız Gülşen 2019a:202f. could also be changed to ]-uš-ša-ḫu-ia-an-ti (following Melchert, DCL:s.v. šaḫuidal-). The morphological interpretation remains unchanged.

[E.R.]

1.1.4Meaning

Without context and the word body unclear, no semantic interpretation can be offered. For the same reason, the proposed relation with the derivatives of *šaḫui(t)- (Soysal & Yıldız Gülşen 2019a:202f.) lacks supportive evidence.

1.1.5Stem

No analysis possible (see under Meaning).

1.1.6Origin

Based on the putative 3pl. pres. act. in -anti, Soysal & Yıldız Gülşen 2019a:202f. considered the possibility of a Luwian origin of the word, while the equally possible participial form in -anti is shared by Hittite and Luwian. Both solutions are equally likely.
