The attestations of the lexeme are widely strewn across the genres, viz. oracle reports, a dream text, the festival text (Ištanuwa), and a tablet catalogue.

1.1.2Forms
| nom. sg. | KBo 41.210, 12’ | (CTH 581, NS) | |
| acc. sg. | ar-ra-aḫ-ḫa-ni-ia-an | KUB 55.38 i 3 | (CTH 772, NS) |
| dat./loc. sg. | ar-ra-aḫ-ḫa-ni-ia | KUB 50.6 iii 34 | (CTH 572, NS) |
| abl. (Hitt.) | ⸢ar-ra⸣-aḫ-ḫa-ni-ia-za | KUB 8.70 i 13’ | (CTH 276, NS) |
| unknown | KUB 15.12 i 2’ | (CTH 590, NS) |
The form ar-ra-aḫ-ḫa-ni-ia=aš at KUB 50.6 iii 34 is governed by the postposition šer (ibid.) and thus contra CLL:24 not a nom. sg., but a dat./loc. sg. plus personal pronoun. – The assignment of
⸢ar-ra-aḫ-ḫa⸣-n[i- at KUB 15.12 i 2’ to the present lemma is very tentative.

1.1.3Graphic Features
Checked against the photographs in the Mainzer Fotoarchiv. – Contra Sasseville 2020c:277, the reading of the final sign in ⸢a-ar⸣-ra-aḫ-ḫa-ni-x[ at KUB 35.109 iii 15’ cannot be -a[n]; see under CLuw. ārraḫḫani-(ti) instead.

1.1.4Meaning
As demonstrated in the earlier literature, the meaning of the gloss wedge word arraḫḫani-(ti) and its adaptation into Hittite encompasses the semantic range of ‘to rant, slander, curse’ (see under Lemma, with references). As an action noun of this verb (see under Stem), arraḫḫaniya- denotes ‘ranting, slandering, cursing’; cf. also HHw:20 (‘Fluch?’), but differently Ünal 2007a:46 (‘a kind of mamaldy (sic), evilness’); no meaning proposed in Otten 1953a:95, HW:386, CLL:24, Starke 1990a:254, HW 2nd ed. A:235; no mention in DLL, HED, HEG, EDHIL).
[E.R.]
1.1.5Stem
Following Starke 1990a:254 and Rieken 2017e:242, arraḫḫaniya- represents a verbal abstract noun based on the verb arraḫḫani-(ti). Sasseville 2020c:277 specified the derivational process positing a non-mutating a-stem based on a denominative verb in -i-(ti).
[E.R.]
1.1.6Origin
The gloss wedge marking and the acknowledged Luwian origin of the underlying verb arraḫḫani-(ti) indicate that
arraḫḫaniya- was likewise borrowed from the same language.

For the lemma head see CLuw. arraḫḫani-(ti).
