1.1.4Meaning
No translation is offered in HHw:s.v. and Ünal 2007a:721. The two semantic interpretations proposed elsewhere depend entirely on the associations of
tititin with other lexemes better understood. de Roos 2007a:270f. supposes that the word is identical with Hitt. tittitta- ‘nose’ and translates it accordingly. In contrast, Starke 1990a:194 assumes that it is a relational adjective derived from CLuw. tītī(t)- ‘pupil (of the eye)’, on account of the singleton spellings on the one hand, and the i-mutation not expected for the neuter noun on the other hand. Although not confirmed by the limited contextual evidence (HEG T:395), the latter analysis is coherent and thus adopted here.

1.1.5Stem
If the analysis accepted under Meaning is correct, the lexeme is a relational adjective derived with the suffix -i(ya)-.
[E.R.]
1.1.6Origin
The Luwian provenance of the word as assumed by Starke 1990a:194 and accepted in HEG T:394 is indicated by the Cuneiform Luwian base, the i-mutation, and the use of gloss-wedges.
[E.R.]
For the derivational base see CLuw. tītī(t)-.
