1.1.3Graphic Features
Checked against the photographs in the Mainzer Fotoarchiv. – Contra HW 2nd ed. Ḫ:812 (followed in DCL:s.v.) with the reading ḫu-wa-an(-)ḫu-wa-al-mi-iš-⸢ša⸣[(-), there is no space between -an and -ḫu-.

1.1.3.1Phonological Interpretation
If the word is related to CLuw. ḫūwalm(i)-, it would represent a reduplicated form with a dissimilation of the lateral in the reduplication syllable.
[E.R.]
1.1.4Meaning
The context is too fragmentary to permit a semantic interpretation.
[E.R.]
1.1.5Stem
The possibility that ]ḫu-wa-an-ḫu-wa-al-mi-iš-s[a(-) may be a reduplicated stem based on ḫūwalm(i)- is implicitly considered by Melchert (DCL:s.v.), see under Phonological Interpretation for a discussion.
[E.R.]
1.1.6Origin
The possible i-mutation, word structure and connection with CLuw. ḫūwalm(i)- may point to a Luwian origin of the word, but this is far from secure (see also HW 2nd ed. Ḫ:812).
