*duwatt(a)rina-
‘(name of a spring)’1.1.1Transmission
This hapax appears in a text about the installation and organization of the cult of the goddess Išḫara in Kizzuwatna (CTH 641). Though the text is in NS, it must be the copy of an earlier text since it mentions an otherwise unknown local king called Talzu, who ruled before Šunaššura (Klengel 1999a:101, 103; Bryce 2005a:428 n. 65; both with refs.).

1.1.4Origin
According to Starke 1987a:249, a Luwian origin for this toponym is probable since it is a topographical reference point in the boundary description of a plot of land in Kizzuwatna. Starke consistently interprets the toponym as Duwattrina- (though Duwattarina- is equally possible) and suggests the following two etymological interpretations (Starke 1987a:251): He connects the toponym with the Luwian word for ‘daughter’ (HLuw. tuwat(a)r(i)-) and identifies the suffix -anna/i- in the word, which can form possessive adjectives (that can be secondarily substantivized) on the one hand, and diminutives on the other. The first possibility (‘die eine Tochter / Töchter hat’), is, however, in his view, not probable, because it cannot be proven that Duwatt(a)rina- had tributaries. Thus, he opts for a diminutive meaning ‘kleines Mädchen, Töchterchen’. While HEG T,D:472 remained agnostic (“klingt … an”), EDHIL:903 rightly pointed out that these proposals cannot be verified. Moreover, since the expected form in both cases is *Duwatt(a)ranna/i- (and cf. also the problem of the single nasal instead of the expected geminated one) and it remains unclear why a spring would be called ‘kleines Mädchen, Töchterchen’ (and this problem cannot be solved by a formally possible derivation *Duwatt(a)riyanna/i- [with regular contraction] either), Starke’s proposals cannot be upheld.
