1.1.4Meaning
Like the other derivatives of the warp- roots, warpann(i)- has a transparent stem formation, i.e. the diminutive suffix is attached to a stem *warp(i)- (CLL:260, Yakubovich 2019a:554). While CLL:260 and HHw:196 leave the word without translation, Yakubovich 2019a:554 argues that warpann(i)-, being part of a list of tools (‘tray’ or ‘pliers’, ‘little stick’, ‘shaft, shank’, ‘hoe’, ‘spear’ or ‘garden tool’), likewise denotes a type of tool. If the morphological analysis is correct, it must be a small-sized tool.
