Although chronologically confined to NS copies, the lexeme is attested in both an OH festival text and an incantation.

The occurrences listed here are those for which there is positive evidence for a substantival use, i.e. a form of the genitival adjective at KUB 35.39 ii 9’ and a lack of agreement if the word were analyzed as a predicative adjective instead at KBo 4.11, 40 (Starke 1990a:465 n. 1695). All other cases of wāšu are listed under the adverb wāšu (see under Lemma). – Reading and interpretation of paragraph-initial ˹wa˺-aš-wa-aš-ši-du-x[ at KUB 35.111 ii 4’ and u?-wa-a-šu-uz at KUB 35.7 i 9’ (over erasure) are unclear (CLL:266).

The lexeme wāšu- is one of the few neuter abstract nouns ending in the suffix -u- (Starke 1990a:465 n. 1695, CLL:266) and represents a substantivization of the adjective wāsu-.
