1.1.4Meaning
The base *mašḫa- from which the formation in -atta(/i)- derives is probably related to CLuw. mašḫāḫi(t)- ‘favor (?), prosperity (?)’, although the fragmentary context hinders any verification. Therefore, no meaning is assigned here.
[D.S.]
1.1.5Origin
The Luwian origin of
mašḫattašša/i- is supported by the genitival adjective ending, by the base *mašḫa- and by the presence of the gloss wedges.
[D.S.]
For the lemma head, see CLuw. *mašḫa-.
