1.1.3Meaning ‘sevenfold, multiplied by seven vel sim.’
No meaning was assigned to this word in Laroche’s dictionary (Laroche 1959a:85), only the remark that it is a participle and thus it was not included in Eichner’s overview of the Anatolian numerals, either (Eichner 1992a:83–85). However, CLL:188 suggested ‘sevenfold’ (with double question mark) as a participle of a denominative verb *sap(pa)tammiya- ‘multiply by seven’, followed by CHD Š:208 and cautiously by Tischler 2008a:161, Tischler 2016a:303, HEG S:853, 1064 (‘versiebenfacht’, with question mark; Ünal 2016a did not include this word). Although Tischler rightly points out (HEG S:853) that the fragmentary context does not allow the demonstration of this meaning, it is formally speaking perfectly fitting and supported by other Luwian forms, too, that may derive from the same numeral, see s.vv. šaptaminzu and *šaptama-.
