‘(ghost word)’

1.1.1Transmission

The fragmentarily attested lexeme occurs in a mythological passage within the ritual against disease, part of the Tauriša tradition.

1.1.2Forms

acc. pl. -w]a?-an-da-ḫi-in-za KUB 35.107 iii 21’ (CTH 764, MS)

1.1.3Graphic Features

Checked against the photographs in the Mainzer Fotoarchiv. – Melchert 2004a:370 tentatively restores [tu-um-m]a?-an-da-ḫi-in-za (followed in Steitler 2017a:392, Rieken & Sasseville 2019a:531, Sasseville 2021a:94) and translates ‘ears’. However, the sign at the edge in iii 21’ cannot be -m]a- (cf. -ma- in iii 20’), and is more likely to be read -w]a-. Accordingly, it is not possible to restore here any derivative of tumman(t)-.

1.1.4Meaning

Although ‘ears’ as suggested by Melchert 2004a:370 would be compatible with the context, it is not the only option. Other parts of the head would possible as well (see Rieken & Sasseville 2019a:531 without translation).

1.1.5Stem

The ending -inz(a) marks the acc. pl. of mutated stems. For the suffix -aḫi- c., see Sasseville 2021a:213f.
