1.1.3Meaning ‘(unknown)’

Zinko & Zinko 2016a:380, Zinko & Zinko 2019a:429f. segment the second line of S11 as tbiat memś, i.e. ‘Tbiat, son of Mem’. If this is correct, then there is no compelling reason to include mem in this dictionary, since it is unknown if a Sidetic word underlies this name. Nevertheless, Simon 2019g: 385f. argues that tbiatmemś is a compound name (cf. also Schürr apud Simon 2019g:386 n. 6) and then mem could be an existing Sidetic word. Zinko & Zinko 2016a:380, Zinko & Zinko 2019a:430 compare it with the personal name Μεμμας attested in Pisidia, but it is unclear if this is really an Anatolian name (Zgusta 1964a:309 with refs.; their other comparison with the Lycian personal name Mẽmruwi is not helpful either, without any analysis provided, see further Simon 2019g:386 n. 6 on a posssible Phrygian onomastic connection). Without further evidence, the meaning of the underlying word remains unknown.
