1.1.4Meaning

The recognition of this Luwian lexeme emerges with the join of Sasseville 2020d, whose fragments contain a song of obscure purpose. The abstract noun ḫappašḫā- is connected to the verbal root ḫapp- ‘to join, bind’ and thus the meaning ‘joining, binding’ is suggested. In KUB 35.97, it is used as an epithet of the Storm-god.

This substantive reflects an abstract formation in -ašḫa- c.
