zizzara-(i)
‘to grow, prosper’1.1.1Transmission
This newly identified Luwian lexeme is found in the song of growth performed during an Old Hittite ritual of the disappearing deity involving the Palaic pantheon (Sasseville 2021a:368-371). The archaic Luwian dialect used in the song is similar to the one of Ištanuwa.

The imperative ending -u of the ḫi-conjugation is an archaism of the Ištanuwa Luwian dialect, which is also present in the dialect of this particular song. Outdated Carruba 1970a:80.

1.1.3Graphic Features
Checked against the photographs in the Konkordanz. The plene spelling of the ending -u could be due to the following clitics, which would cause the accent on the verb to shift rightward, but cf. the reconstruction of the lemma head.

1.1.4Meaning
Whereas the song in which the verb zizzarū is attested was previously thought to be Palaic, Sasseville 2021a:368-371 argues that it is Luwian instead, which allows a better analysis of its lexicon. The verb zizzarū segregated from the chain zizzarū=pi=a is etymologically connected with HLuw. /zarza-/ ‘to grow’ and zí-ra/i-la-mi- ‘prospering, fruitful’. This is contextually supported, because the subject of the verb is the non-growing harvest (Sasseville 2021a:370f.).
