1.1.3Graphic Features
Checked against the photographs in the Konkordanz.Mouton 2008a:257 reads mar-nu-wa-ia-a-an ni-x[ as two words, which is not supported by the photo, which does not show any space between <an> and <ni>. Moreover, the sign read as <ia> by Mouton is clearly <la> (Melchert pers. comm.). The reading of the sign -i[š?], to obtain a nominative singular is very likely.

1.1.4Meaning
The interpretation of reading a word marnuwalānn(i)-, i.e. a formation in -ann(i)-, is plausible. Thus, it would represent the dislocated subject of the sentence. Its derivational base, i.e. *marnuwala-, can be equated with Hitt. marnuwala- c., an attribute of the road or the path (KASKAL) that is taken by the soul (CHD L-N:195). The agentive function of the suffix -ala- c. leads the to the meaning ‘(the one) causing to disappear’ not ‘invisible’ (pace CHD L-N:195). Therefore, the Luwian formation in -ann(i)-, which does not modify the semantics already expected for *marnuwala- and is often used to designate an individual, would yield the meaning ‘the one causing to disappear´. The word is left untranslated in Mouton 2008a:260.

2. Reconstruction
2.1Reconstruction
The equation of the base of marnuwalānn(i)- with Hitt. marnuwala- c. ‘the one causing to disappear’ allows the reconstruction of a Proto-Anatolian agent noun *mr̥nu-ó-leh2-. For the reconstruction of the Hittite suffix -āla- c. see Melchert apud Sasseville 2014-2015a:118.
